He won eight championships as a Celtics guard by sticking to the other team’s best player until the guy gave up, then coached Larry Bird’s Celtics to two more by letting Larry do whatever Larry wanted. Bill Russell’s college roommate, Hall of Famer and the only Celtic nobody ever had a bad word for. He died on Christmas at 88, stealing the spotlight from Jesus like a true Celtic.
